Too many people get lucky and therefore think that the numbers do not matter!
It’s true in New Zealand that people that have purchased property and managed to hang onto it for a few years have made money, and in some cases a lot of money.
These people are not necessarily great investors, but may just be a bit “lucky” having been able to buy and sell when the property market has been favorable. When we sit down and crunch the numbers with people we will always try to take a conservative approach so that we allow for those times when the property market may not just reward people for owning property.
